It is nice to switch from packaged butter to homemade ones. At least once in a while, people should try making this as this does not take long.

Step 1: Start with your desired about of cream. You can use raw sour cream. Put that in the blender and wait for it to blend. Hold the lid.

Step 2: After six or seven minutes, the homebased butter will begin to isolate into two parts. One is the buttermilk and the other is the butter. That will be visible to you so turn off the blender when that happens. Keep the blender shut and wait for the cream to settle for a minutes and see the butter come above it

Step 3: Transfer the buttermilk to a container, using a spatula to compress as much buttermilk you can get out of the butter. The butter is finished but if you are not going to finish it off instantly and keep it for several days you have pour cold water to the blender. Turn on the blender for a minutes after you pour the cold water. The water should be really cold almost like ice, not just a bottle you kept in the refrigerator an hour ago. Serve it on a plate.

Making butter in a jar

Step 1: Fill up a mason jar almost 60 percent of it with heavy cream that is cold. You should be able to shake it therefore do not fill more than 60 percent of it.

• Do not put the butter in the microwave because it will make it runnier and eventually ruin it.

• You can also use a stand mixer or an electric mixer to make butter if you do not have a blander.
