When the trichomes are clear, the plant is not yet ready for harvest. As they mature, they will begin to turn from clear to milky white. At this point, the THC content is at its highest and the plant is ready to harvest. However, some growers prefer to wait even longer until the trichomes turn amber in color. This indicates that the THC has started to degrade into CBN, which has different effects. It is a matter of preference as to when you harvest your plants.

To get a close look at the trichomes, you will need a magnifying glass or microscope. Once you have determined that it is time to harvest, cut down the entire plant or individual branches. Hang them upside down in a cool, dark, and dry place to cure for at least two weeks. This allows the THC to further degrade into CBN and also improves the flavor of the buds.
