Having water in the ear can be very irritating and painful. It is an annoying feeling that everybody hates. Some people get water in their ear accidently when they are in the shower or when they are in a rush. Some swimmers get them regularly; they need to know certain methods to solve the issue. Some people lose hope thinking nothing is working while others can solve the problem in minutes. Here is how you can get rid of the water from your ear and get relief.

Step 1: Start with a tissue paper or a dry towel and make sure the outer part of the ear is not wet. Do not insert any cotton swabs or any cotton material inside the ear thinking that it will absorb the water.

Step 2: First of all, look in the mirror. Now, put your head in a 45 degrees’ angle. Do not tilt is so much that is becomes 90 degrees. Pull down the ear lobes towards the ground to let the water flow out gently.

Step 3: If you have a hair dryer, turn it on by setting up to its coolest setting. You do not want to heat up or burn your skin. Hold it several inches away from the ear that has water in it and continue using it so that the water dries out.

Step 4: Some people do this after the water is still present, after first check with the doctor if you should use the process of alcohol. It involves exact amount of rubbing alcohol and vinegar mixed in a clean container. Using a dropper, take a drop and put it in the ear. It will not make the water leak out of the ear but quickly disappear in your ear.

Step 5: If you are not alright with the alcohol or you are afraid to put more liquid into your ear, try tilting your head and jump on one foot. Continue jumping till the water exits.

Step 6: If there is still more water left, tilt your head and pull the top part of the ears. You have to get to the ears from the back of your head. Make sure the ear is as straight as possible.

Step 7: Communicate with your doctor and see what he or she tells you to do about the water in your ear or you can simply go for a check-up.

Tips

  • Lay on a pillow and adjust your ear and hope it gets unplugged and the water comes out.
  • Do not start inserting things like tissue papers, cotton sticks, corner of a cloth or towel, it will only cause more injury to the inside of the ears and can get you into a serious ear infection that will require medical treatment.
  • If you are inserting your fingers inside the ear, make sure your nails are short and clean. To make it easy for your ear, get rid of earrings from the ear.
